Abstract
This study investigates the influence of sulfur treatment on the catalytic performance of Fe-Mn/ZSM-5 catalyst for the production of light olefins (C2–C4). K2S was employed as a promoter, with varying loading amounts examined to determine optimal concentration. The results demonstrate that the CH4 production and C2-C4 olefins selectivity were significantly affected by K2S content in the catalyst structure. The catalytic performance was evaluated under various operational conditions, including different H2/CO molar feed ratios, gas hourly space velocity (GHSV), reaction temperature, and total syngas pressure. The findings reveal that the optimal conditions for the Fe-Mn/ZSM-5 catalyst promoted with 7 wt.% K2S (based on total catalyst weight) are: reaction temperature of 260 °C, GHSV of 2400 h-1, H2/CO molar ratio of 2/1, and total pressure of 3 bar for light olefins (C2–C4)production and lower methane selectivity. The optimized catalyst was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and N2 physisorption techniques to elucidate the structural and textural properties that contribute to its enhanced catalytic performance.
