Aims and Scope

Aims

The Iranian Journal of Chemical Engineering (IJChE) is an internationally recognized, peer-reviewed quarterly publication, accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran and published under the supervision of the Iranian Association of Chemical Engineering (IAChE). Established in 2004 and having successfully transitioned from a Persian-language publication to a prominent English-language journal, IJChE serves as a pivotal global forum for the exchange of scientific achievements and technological innovations in chemical engineering and its allied disciplines. The journal is dedicated to advancing educational, scientific, and industrial research by fostering a collaborative environment among researchers, academics, and industry professionals worldwide. Specifically, IJChE aims to:

  • Facilitate Knowledge Exchange by publishing high-quality original research, short communications, and comprehensive review articles that contribute to the theoretical and practical foundations of chemical engineering.

  • Bridge Academia and Industry by encouraging contributions that address real-world industrial challenges, translating cutting-edge research into scalable, practical applications that benefit society.

  • Foster Innovation by promoting interdisciplinary research that tackles contemporary global challenges, including sustainability, energy transition, environmental protection, and biotechnology.

  • Maintain Academic Excellence by upholding a rigorous, double-blind peer-review process to ensure that only scientifically valid, novel, and impactful research is disseminated to the global scientific community.

Scope

The scope of the Iranian Journal of Chemical Engineering (IJChE)encompasses the core principles of chemical engineering while actively embracing emerging interdisciplinary fields and modern technological advancements. The journal welcomes original contributions, research notes, and invited state-of-the-art review articles that present novel findings, methodologies, or comprehensive overviews. The subject areas covered by the journal include, but are not limited to, the following twelve domains:

  1. Process Control and Engineering, Process Safety, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment);

  2. Modeling and Simulation (including computational fluid dynamics, process systems engineering, and numerical methods);

  3. Transport Phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass transfer);

  4. Reaction Engineering, Kinetics, and Catalysts (including photocatalytic and biocatalytic processes);

  5. Energy (renewable energy, fuel cells, energy storage, and conventional energy optimization);

  6. Environmental Engineering (pollution control, waste treatment, CO₂ capture, and sustainable processes);

  7. Biomedical and Biotechnology (biochemical engineering, tissue engineering, and pharmaceutical processing);

  8. Separation Technology (membrane processes, distillation, adsorption, chromatography, and extraction);

  9. Thermodynamics (phase equilibria, property prediction, and applied classical and statistical thermodynamics);

  10. Polymer Engineering and Technology (polymer synthesis, processing, rheology, and characterization);

  11. Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering (enhanced oil recovery, flow in porous media, and petrochemical processing); and

  12. Materials Synthesis and Production (nanomaterials, advanced composites, functional materials, and thin films).

In addition to these core areas, the journal periodically publishes state-of-the-art and invited review articles to provide critical assessments of significant breakthroughs and emerging trends. The primary audience for IJChE includes industrial practitioners, academic researchers, and graduate students actively engaged in Chemical and Process Engineering across the globe.
